I work at the cafeteria on Briarcliff and I remember DJ came in one day and grabbed some tater tots. He didn’t have any money and he looks at me and says “I just got some tater tots is it ok?” and I said somebody has to pay. Then he looked at me for two seconds and then he said “but I just got some tater tots is it ok?” I send my condolences to his family God bless them I know it’s tough for them right now. To the Pace football team be strong hold your heads high and every time you step on that field step on with confidence the way DJ would have wanted you to. Every time you play a game, play the way he would have wanted you to. Do it for DJ

  8. Lillie Fiore says:

    Dear Mr &Mrs Henry,
My deepest sympathy and condolences to you and your family. I feel the same pain that you feel in your heart with the lost of a son, I too lost my son a few weeks ago he was Max Moreno the person that is pictured with your son in the Pace University Memorial he was a senior at pace and a good person and very loving son as I’m sure your son was as well. The newpapers put stories out there to sell papers and to tell a better story not caring that their stories are very hurtful and unjustified to their families. I’m also dealing with these untrue stories but in the end we knew who our son’s were and how respectable they were raised. My son always said…..
only “GOD IS THE JUDGE AND JURY” and so i say this prayer for us….
“GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE,COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN, AND WISDOM TO ALWAYS KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. AMEN.
God Bless you and may you find some peace in his happy memeories.

Please know that there are people out there for you and may you find peace in God. Your words about DJ express what a great person he was and how much he was loved.

  10. John F. Agnelli III says:

    Mr. and Mrs. Henry,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. When DJ came to my office that cold January day as a transfer student there was something special about him. After I left Pace, DJ made it his point to stay in touch, come to the city to visit and check in to insure I was ok. Daily, I read a banner on my wall that DJ signed wishing me well and appreciating from what he said, “all I did”. I appreciate him for the opportunity to serve and witness what the real measure of a man is. My heart aches for you and your family during this tough time. You raised an amazing young man who touched the lives of thousands.
A poem that I feel says it all during this time
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

    Gods Love and Mine,
    John Agnelli

  12. I see from afar says:

    On eagle’s wings
    On your heart that sings
    The heavy wail
    The light sail
    The fleeting torment
    The deleting moment
    The light that remains
    The fight that regains
    You will not lose
    As His spirit rises

  13. Maria Cuccurullo says:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Henry the Henry family and all of D.J.’s beloved friends,
I did not know D.J., I only know of him through the wonderful stories I have read and heard from those that truly knew him and loved him. As I walk the halls of Pace University, you can honestly feel a somber emptiness and a distinct feeling of dysphoria. A precious person has been taken away, leaving only memories behind. D.J.’s passing has definitely left a wound in many here at Pace. From what I see and honestly can feel, your beloved son was loved and respected and is very missed by many. All my prayers and sympathy for your sorrow,
    Maria Cuccurullo

  31. Matt Ruppert says:

I was not fortunate enough to have closely known him, but seeing all responses here (so far), the attendance at the vigil, as well as the quality of what people had to say, & the overall strong impact his loss has had upon the entire Pace community makes me wish that our paths had crossed. Most importantly, he made me realize that it’s never good to take anything or anyone for granted. He will greatly be missed. Deepest condolences go out to family, all close ones, & anyone else who was impacted by his loss. Thank you.

  32. Prof. Susan Crawford says:

The thought that has gone through my mind since this tragic event is this: DJ’s life was all about friendship. He was continually surrounded by friends, and what I remember most is that there was always laughter. That is what I will treasure most as I remember DJ; that is his legacy.

To all who loved and admired DJ, let friendship and laughter help you through this difficult time, and know that the prayers and wishes of others support you.

    God bless.

  34. Alice Seifert says:

DJ was a good friend to all including my son Tyler. When he went to heaven he left precious memories behind of innocence, warmth and his special smile which will forever be in our minds. When he went to heaven a part of all of us went too. The only comfort we have is knowing that we will be joined with him again, when our journey here on earth is through. You are missed tremendously by all who came in touch with you. Rest In Peace dear angel DJ. May the Henry family answers and peace.
